We are sorry, but we cannot guarantee parental requests for a particular school. Parents will be notified of their child’s placement by mid-summer. There will be a kindergarten visitation night for the parents and their children before school begins.
In addition to kindergarten, the district offers an Inclusive Preschool Program for typically developing preschool age children, who will be 3 or 4 years old on or before October 1, on a tuition basis. If you are interested in having your child attend or would like more information, please contact the Director of Special Education, George Rafferty, at 547-1322. You may also visit the school district website at: http://hhsd.k12.nj.us/index.php?id=specialed_preschool
PROJECT CHILD FIND
If you have a preschool age child, between the ages 3 to 5, experiencing difficulties with communication, academic, socialization, or motor skills development, your child may be eligible for free services through the school district. The district can evaluate children beginning at 2 years 9 months old. The district provides special educational services for preschoolers with disabilities, as well as other school age students, ages 6 through 21, who are identified as eligible through an extensive evaluation process.
If you suspect your child is developing differently or having problems learning, please contact George Rafferty, Director of Special Education, at 547-1322 for more information. Information is also available on the school district website at: http://hhsd.k12.nj.us/index.php?id=specialed_childfind

NJ FamilyCare Information - Mandated Health Coverage for all Students age 18 and under
Recently signed legislation now mandates health insurance for all children age 18 and under. The requirement can be met through (1) health insurance provided by your employer, (2) a health insurance policy you purchase directly, or (3)through NJ FamilyCare, which provides free or low cost insurance for children and their parents. Enrollment in school insurance programs ONLY does NOT satisy this mandate.
Information on NJ FamilyCare and eligibility is available through the school nurse in each of our school buildings. Uninsured families may contact the school nurse to learn more about the application process for NJ Family Care. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
